When I think of the fondest memory of my childhood, it’s the priceless time I use to have in the playground. My father use to take me to the park every Saturday and Sunday evenings. Now that there have been various multiplay system installed at the parks. Some of them are designed according to specific theme. List of Playground Equipment: Slides, Merry Go Rounds
- Slides – Slides are undoubtedly life of any playground. When I used to go to the park there was this traditional metal straight slide, generally installed near a tree so that it does get shade and prevent overheating during summers. Slides used to be the first equipment in the park that I used to enjoy. I remember, my father used to stay at the end of the ramp to catch me before I hit the ground and hurt myself. Nowadays, there are so many variants of slides available. And made of hard plastic in all possible attractive colors. Some of which I find in my near playground are spiral slide, tunnel slide, double slide, component slide, etc.
- Merry-Go-Rounds – This used to be so much fun. The traditional merry-go-rounds used to have eight seats that suspended on thick rods. There also used to be standing merry-go-rounds, on which I was a bit afraid to step on. Nowadays there are variants available to meet the requirement of the park and safety of the kids. A teacup go-rounds version really fascinates me. It also provides sense of safety for the kids as it has enough room to accommodate the kid and also provide space for armrest.
List of Swings, Playground Climbers, Spring Riders
- Swings – A wooden seat, hanged on metal link chains, and attached to the metal framing. This used to be the most relaxing time. Speed was to be modulated with leg movement. As I was very small, my father used to push my swing from back and made me enjoy the thrill. Nowadays, with innovations with time, there have been changes made to the traditional swings. The seats, instead of wooden, are made of hard plastic. For safety of infants and toddlers, there are full bucket baby swing, high back baby swing, etc.
- Playground Climbers – This was the most fun part at the park that I with my friends used to enjoy. We also had one similar to it installed in our school playground. As there is combination of ladders, horizontal bars, vertical bars, and ring climbers, it provides a great play for kids.
- Spring Riders – How can I not mention these. There were three spring riders, horse, airplane and fish. My favorite used to be airplane spring rider as I wanted to be a pilot then. Friends and I used to make up stories while we used to ride these. My father also used to take part in story making. I am glad, that these have not become lost, but indeed evolved. Nowadays, there are spring riders in so many designs and also available with dual seat option.
There has also been so much advancement seen in the parks. Along with the outdoor playground equipment there also are Open Gym Equipment installed. Which means that now with kids the adults who accompany them at the park can also enjoy keeping themselves fit and healthy.
