What is PVD (posterior vitreous detachment)
The vitreous, a material, fills the centre of the eye. Normally, the vitreous is joined to the retina at the back of the eye. When the vitreous pushes away from the retina, it causes a posterior vitreous detachment, or PVD.

Causes
Due to ageing and normal wear and tear, the vitreous gel that fills the eye condenses (shrines) with time. What results in a PVD?

How to diagnose PVD

Complications
